NSW: Boy, 12, arrested after rock thrown at train

SYDNEY, Dec 2 AAP - A 12-year-old boy is facing possible criminal action for allegedly
throwing a rock at a Sydney train, while three teenagers have been charged after police
chased down a stolen car, police say.

Transit officers say they saw the boy throw a rock at a train travelling east between
Kingswood and Werrington in Sydney's west about 5pm (AEDT) on Tuesday.

The boy, who was standing on nearby Park Avenue, was detained and later arrested by
police and questioned.

No one was injured during the incident, and the boy was released pending further action,
police said.

Three teenage boys - two aged 14 and one aged 16 - allegedly led police on a pursuit
in a stolen Subaru Liberty on Tuesday.

The car was spotted travelling along St Johns Road at Glebe about 1.40pm (AEDT).

"Police initiated a short pursuit and the occupants were able to evade police," police
said in a statement.

"The car was located abandoned a short time later in Leys Avenue, Leichhardt.

"Police attended the scene and established a perimeter. Three youths were located hiding
in nearby yards."

A 14-year-old from Glebe was charged with car theft, trespassing, driving unlicensed,
dangerous driving and escaping custody.

He was refused bail to face Bidura Children's Court on Wednesday.

The second 14-year-old, from Surry Hills, was charged with car theft and trespassing
and will also face court on Wednesday.

The 16-year-old was granted bail to face court on December 15, charged with stealing the Subaru.
